How Takehome Studio works
Takehome Studio helps you turn a take-home assignment into a clear, defensible discovery and decision-space artifact.
It supports the process from assignment intake through product framing and presentation preparation, while keeping the key judgment calls with you.
Each stage builds on the decisions you accept in the previous stage. Review carefully before continuing.
Demo and Live
Demo uses built-in sample intelligence so you can explore the workflow immediately.
Live uses AI to analyze your assignment and generate suggestions based on your actual brief.
Both follow the same review-first workflow.
1. Add the assignment
Paste the complete brief, including the requested deliverables, constraints, background, and evaluation criteria.
The more complete the source material, the better the initial analysis.
2. Review the interpretation
Takehome Studio will suggest:
- what the assignment appears to ask;
- the central trade-off;
- likely evaluation signals;
- and important open questions.
Treat these as working hypotheses. Every suggestion can be edited, accepted, or removed before moving forward.
Generated does not mean accepted.
3. Explore discovery questions
Review the questions that could change your framing, priorities, or understanding of the decision space.
Keep the questions that help you make a better decision. Remove the ones that only add background.
4. Consider stakeholder perspectives
The system can simulate plausible stakeholder perspectives based on the assignment context.
Use these perspectives to uncover blind spots, not as a substitute for real customer evidence.
Simulation is not evidence.
5. Build your product framing
Clarify:
- who the primary stakeholder is;
- what core problem matters most;
- what outcome should improve;
- which constraints shape the decision space;
- and which important unknowns still need attention.
This framing helps organize the decision space. It does not choose the final solution, recommendation, MVP, or non-goals for you.
6. Review and export
Review the Discovery Summary as a consolidated record of the work you have reviewed so far.
Check that it clearly captures:
- the assignment interpretation;
- important evaluation signals;
- the discovery questions you retained;
- relevant stakeholder perspectives;
- the five-part Product Framing;
- assumptions;
- and remaining uncertainties.
Use this artifact as an input to your own prioritization, recommendation, MVP definition, and final presentation narrative.
What AI helps with
AI can help you:
- organize a complex brief;
- surface alternative interpretations;
- suggest discovery questions;
- simulate stakeholder perspectives;
- identify assumptions worth validating;
- identify gaps and contradictions;
- organize presentation-ready material;
- and prepare for difficult questions.
What you still own
You remain responsible for:
- source trust;
- accepting or rejecting AI suggestions;
- problem framing;
- prioritization;
- product thesis;
- MVP and non-goals;
- success measures;
- the final recommendation;
- and the narrative you would need to defend live.
AI helps you think better; it should not make the product judgment.
Privacy
Takehome Studio is designed to minimize retention of your work.
Assignment content is processed only to support the current workflow.
Product analytics, when enabled, record workflow events rather than assignment content.
Review your organization’s policies before uploading confidential material.
Before you finish
Make sure you can clearly explain:
- what problem you chose to solve;
- why it matters;
- what evidence supports the choice;
- what remains uncertain;
- what you prioritized;
- what you excluded;
- and what new information could change your recommendation.
Could another strong Product Manager reasonably reach a different conclusion? If so, why is yours the better recommendation?
